Redemption is the third studio album by Jay Rock, released on June 15, 2018, via Top Dawg Entertainment and Interscope Records. Serving as his major-label debut, the album follows his 2015 release, 90059, showcasing Rock’s evolution as an artist over three years.
With production from heavyweight producers like Sounwave, Hit-Boy, Mike Will Made It, Boi-1da, and TDE’s Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith (who also served as executive producer), the album boasts a dynamic sound. Additional contributions from Jake One, Teddy Walton, Cardo, and Vinylz further enhance its sonic depth.
The project features a star-studded lineup, including Kendrick Lamar, SZA, SiR, Future, Tee Grizzley, J. Cole, Jeremih, Mozzy, and Dcmbr. Leading the charge was the Grammy-winning single “King’s Dead”, featuring Kendrick Lamar, Future, and James Blake, followed by “Win” and “The Bloodiest”.
Critically acclaimed upon release, Redemption debuted at #13 on the Billboard 200, moving 31,417 units in its first week. The album earned two Grammy nominations, with “Win” securing the award for Best Rap Performance.
