“40 Dayz & 40 Nightz” is the second studio album by Xzibit, the American rapper. It was released on August 25, 1998, under Loud Records and RCA Records. The album was recorded at various studios in Los Angeles, including Sound Castle, Area51, N-House Studioz, Record One, Track Record, Inc., and The Enterprise in Burbank. Production credits include Sir Jinx, Bud’da, A Kid Called Roots, DJ Pen One, E-Swift, Jesse West, Mel-Man, Montage One, Soopafly, The Glove, and Xzibit himself. Collaborators on the album include Likwit Crew members Montage One, Defari, King Tee, Tha Alkaholiks, and Golden State Project members Ras Kass, Saafir, Jayo Felony, and Method Man from Wu-Tang Clan.
The album debuted at No. 58 on the Billboard 200 and No. 14 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart in the United States. It also reached No. 32 on the UK Hip Hop and R&B Albums Chart. “40 Dayz & 40 Nightz” spawned four singles: “What U See Is What U Get”, “Los Angeles Times”, “Pussy Pop”, and “3 Card Molly”. The lead single, “What U See Is What U Get”, peaked at No. 50 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking one of Xzibit’s highest charting hits. The album’s second single, “Los Angeles Times”, was featured on the soundtrack of the 1997 film “Soul in the Hole”.
